Coming from a musical family, she has always enjoyed being involved in music. Currently her favorite two things to do are playing in a symphony /chamber orchestra and helping students who want to learn how to play an instrument.
Maria is a member of the Stratus Chamber Orchestra, particularly well known for its engaging repertoire, encompassing chamber orchestra music from the Baroque to the avant-garde since 2002.
Resident artist at the Denver School of the Arts since 2010 to present.

Tri-Cities’ premiere chamber music ensemble dedicated to promoting artistic excellence, providing performance opportunity for local chamber artists in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, sharing chamber music with local audiences, and ensuring that chamber music is a vital part of life in our communities.
Maria travels to her home country Colombia and has been a Double Bass clinician at the Batuta Instrumental Program in Sincelejo. BATUTA: The Instrumental Sistema in Colombia that started in Venezuela. El Sistema is a tested model of how a music program can both create great musicians and dramatically change the life trajectory of hundreds of thousands of a nation’s neediest kids. Among its graduates, El Sistema Venezuela has nurtured international musicians such as Gustavo Dudamel and the world-renowned Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra.
She has performed with the Denver Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, Metro State University of Denver Orchestra, The Harid Philharmonia, Symphony of the America, South West Florida Symphony, Palm Beach Orchestra, Palm Beach Pops, Miami City Ballet, Boca Pops, Naples Philharmonic, New World Symphony, Innca Chamber Orchestra and Colombian Youth Symphony. She also performed with Singer-Guitarist James Taylor.
She studied with Dr. Lucas Drew and Janet Clippard. Other teachers include Stuart Sankey, Kevin Mauldin, Joseph Head, David Neubert, David Malone, Curtis Burris, Dan Swaim, Russel Brown and has done master classes wiht Francesco Petracchi, Francois Rabbath, John Chiego, Brad Opland, James Clute, Alexander String Quartet and the Miami String Quartet.
She was the orchestra director at a private school for 8 years. Worked as the Assistant Double Bass Faculty at the New World School of the Arts in Florida, taught at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Westminster Christian School, West Kendall Center for Music. Judge for All State Orchestra Double Bass auditions in CO, Florida Orchestra Association~ Solo and Ensemble Competition in Florida, Regional Band Ensemble Competition in Colombia. She is a Bass Clinician and Strings Specialist at Aurora Public Schools.
She also served as the Education Coordinator with the Colorado Symphony Association.
Maria attended many music festivals, Texas Music Festival, Brevard Music Festival, Chatauqua, NY, Colorado College Music festival, Round Top and Sewanee Music Festival.
Made a recording with the Estudiantina Chia Ensemble in Colombia, Folk Music.
